Elvis Costello’s Pomp & Pout – The Universal Years (Hip-O/UMe), released June 29, 2010, brings together for the first time an overview of the musician’s career from 1998-2008. Compiled by Costello himself, Pomp & Pout provides a sonic bookend to the 2007 Hip-O/UMe compilation The Best Of Elvis Costello – The First 10 Years.

The 18 digitally remastered selections span six albums--Painted From Memory, When I Was Cruel, North, The Delivery Man, The River In Reverse and Momofuku--plus the rare “In Another Room” from 2005’s The Clarksdale Sessions and originally available only on the limited deluxe edition of The Delivery Man; “My Mood Swings,” Elvis’ contribution to the soundtrack of the 1998 cult favorite The Big Lebowski; and “Impatience,” originally a bonus track on the U.K. and Japanese versions of 2003’s North.

In 1998, Painted From Memory marked the first album in more than 20 years from the renowned Bacharach, who co-wrote and co-produced with Costello, arranged the orchestra and played piano. Pomp & Pout culls its “The Sweetest Punch,” “This House Is Empty Now” and “In The Darkest Place.” 2002’s rowdy Top 20 album When I Was Cruel introduced Costello’s new band, The Imposters, which added bassist Davey Faragher to longtime conspirators, keyboardist Steve Nieve and drummer Pete Thomas, and yielded “When I Was Cruel No. 2,” “45,” “Tart” and “Dust.”

Costello took a singular turn the following year with North, an intimate album of piano-based ballads. The disc, with “Still” featuring the Brodsky Quartet, hit #1 on traditional jazz charts. Costello and The Imposters then followed with 2004’s Top 40 charting The Delivery Man, recorded in Oxford, MS, which included “Bedlam,” “Country Darkness” and “Monkey To Man.”

Costello teamed with Allen Toussaint for 2006’s The River In Reverse, recorded in New Orleans just a few months after hurricane Katrina. Grammy nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and charting #2 Jazz, the album starred the title track and “Ascension Day.” Back with The Imposters, Costello laid down 2008’s Momofuku in Los Angeles, including Jenny Lewis on “No Hiding Place” and “Stella Hurt,” and Pete Thomas’ daughter Tennessee, drummer for exciting beat combo, The Like, also on the latter.

Album Launch to Coincide With New Documentary “Stones In Exile”

New York - February 25, 2010 – Universal Music Group is pleased to announce the re-release of The Rolling Stones’ album Exile on Main Street with an additional 10 never-before-heard tracks. Regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock ‘n’ roll history and one of the most defining of the Stones’ catalogue, Exile will be available May 17, 2010, in the U.K. and May 18, 2010, in the US.

Upon its release more than three decades ago, Exile on Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. This new compilation features 10 tracks originally recorded during the Exile era and only recently discovered while working on the reissue project. The unearthed tracks which include such titles as “Plundered My Soul,” “Dancing in the Light,” “Following the River” and “Pass The Wine” have undergone a unique evolution, while staying true to the essence of the 1972 album. Alternate versions of “Soul Survivor” and “Loving Cup” also are a part of the Exile bonus materials.

As a complement to the release of Exile on Main Street, a documentary, “Stones in Exile,” has just been completed for fans to view on US Network television and through BBC Worldwide internationally. The documentary features rare, never-before-seen archival film, photos and interviews as well as new conversations with the band and the artists they influence. Produced by Oscar -winning filmmaker John Battsek and directed by Stephen Kijak, who is known for award-winning work on Cinemania, and Scott Walker: 30 Century Man, “Stones in Exile” offers an uncommon glimpse into the lives of the band as they created one of the greatest albums of all time.

The original 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richard’s mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal “Main Street” influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album’s outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the sociopolitical turbulence that marked the late `60s and early `70s. The Stones nixed the influences of a flower-child era and directed their creative process with the edgier, excessive, “more is more” approach of the `70s. Exile reveals a sprawling mix of genres with undertones of blues, country, R&B and gospel mixed with lyrics that fervently demand for release and liberation.

The album pulled together an electric array of talent including Dr. John, the late Billy Preston and pianist Nicky Hopkins. Guitarist Mick Taylor, who replaced Brian Jones in the band shortly before Jones died in 1969, is a magnificent blues player who brought an intensity and elegance to these epic tracks. At times, these musicians and others lived on the recording studio premises with the band creating an extremely open and creative collaboration for the album.

“The album’s riveting portrait of artists pushed – by the times, by themselves – to the very limits of their creativity has provided inspiration to every musical generation that has come along since Exile was released in 1972,” said author Anthony DeCurtis. “Every song on Exile on Main Street is elevated by its relationship to the music that comes before and after it. The album’s irresistible power is unlikely to diminish any time soon.”

Exile on Main Street will be available in two CD formats: the original 18 track release; a deluxe CD edition with the 10 special bonus tracks; and a super deluxe package that also includes vinyl, a 30-minute documentary DVD with footage from Cocksucker Blues, Ladies and Gentlemen… the Rolling Stones and Stones in Exile, and a 50-page collector’s book with photos from the Exile era. LOST The Final Season premieres Tuesday, February 2 on ABC

As pop culture phenomenon “Lost” begins its sixth and final season on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC, fans of the ABC television series will gain a unique glimpse into the minds of characters Kate, Sawyer, Locke, Hurley and Charlie as well as the vibe of the Dharma Initiative with the release of six EPs revealing classic songs important to each of them. In Dub Vol. 1 is the first in a series of collections of classic, rare and new dub excursions in the Bob Marley & The Wailers catalog. The debut set features 10 classic dub remixes (most previously unavailable on album) and a newly crafted dub of “Lively Up Your Dub,” exclusive to this package, by foundation dub mix engineer Scientist.

In 2010, the year he would have celebrated his 65^th birthday (February 6^th), Bob Marley continues to inspire and influence people around the world. One of the most charismatic and challenging performers of our time--a musical, political and even spiritual figure of mystical proportions, both poet and prophet, hero and rebel--Marley remains reggae’s greatest icon and a monumental musical figure of our time. Throughout 2010, Island/Tuff Gong/UMe, his worldwide catalog home, will honor with new album releases a legacy which continues to resonate as Marley’s music is revealed and rediscovered by new generations.

No artist has so dominated his genre in modern music as Marley has reggae, with his greatest hits album Legend the biggest selling reggae album in history. The albums that followed, from Catch A Fire, Burnin’ and Natty Dread (his first without the Wailers) to Rastaman Vibration, Exodus (which Time magazine anointed Album of the Century), Kaya, Survival and Uprising, earned global acclaim. “Stir It Up,” “Concrete Jungle,” “I Shot The Sheriff,” “Get Up, Stand Up,” “No Woman, No Cry,” “War,” “Positive Vibration,” “Jamming,” “Waiting In Vain” and “One Love/People Get Ready” became anthems.

Though he passed away at the young age of 36, “no one in rock and roll has left a musical legacy that matters more or one that matters in such fundamental ways,” wrote music writer Robert Palmer upon Marley’s posthumous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After the release of their next album (Sting in the Tail, release date: March 23^rd, Universal Music Enterprises) and a three-year mammoth tour, which will take them across five continents, one of the most successful rock bands in the world, SCORPIONS, will be ending their career. The band broke the news on their website on Sunday.

“While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process,” said KLAUS MEINE. “We want to end the SCORPION’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely gracious for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning.” “So at some point,” added guitarist MATTHIAS JABS, “it came to us to end our career with this exceptional album.” RUDOLF SCHENKER stated, “The three year tour through five continents is meant to be a huge blowout, where we can party with our fans and say good-bye.” “When I started out, I had a lot of wishes,” SCHENKER noted. “It’s crazy, I achieved more than I ever even dreamed of.”

During their 40-year career, SCORPIONS sold over 100 million albums and received many awards, such as the World Music Award and several Echos--the German comparison to the Grammy. Today they still play sold-out venues around the world. Not long ago, 152,000 South Americans came to 15 SCORPIONS concerts between Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City. Their song “Wind of Change” has become an anthem for the fall of the Iron Curtain.

The tour will launch in the band’s home country Germany in May. After that, they will be touring through North America before they continue their journey through five other continents until 2012.

The debate over which of the three greatest rock bands--Beatles, Stones and Who--is the greatest has raged for decades. But there has never been any argument over which of the three has been the greatest band in concert. The Who has reigned o’er them all. Now, 22 recordings of the band’s biggest and best-known hits--most of them never widely available or unreleased and 20 of them newly mixed by the band and its production team--have been collected on Greatest Hits Live (Geffen/UM^e), released exclusively on the iTunes Store on January 19, 2010. Just a few weeks later, on February 7, The Who will take the stage once again when the group headlines the Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida.

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder has said that, “The Who quite possibly remain the greatest live band ever” (Rolling Stone, 2004) and Greatest Hits Live justifies that statement with scintillating tracks ranging from 1965 to 2009, from London’s Royal Albert Hall to the San Francisco Civic Auditorium.

The excitement and raw energy of singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon are heard live with “My Generation” from an early BBC Radio session in 1965 and then in 1970 at City Hall in Hull, England, with “Happy Jack” and “I’m A Boy,” and “Magic Bus.” The Who then move around the world to the San Francisco Civic the following year for “I Can’t Explain,” “Substitute” and the melancholy “Behind Blue Eyes.” Also from the ‘70s are a medley of “Naked Eye/Let’s See Action/My Generation” at the Charlton Athletic Football Club in 1974; “Pinball Wizard,” the anthemic “I’m Free” and cheery “Squeezebox” in Swansea in 1976; and “5.15” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again” at the Capital Centre in Largo, Maryland.

Five recordings from the ‘80s--“I Can See For Miles,” “Join Together,” “Love Reign O’er Me,” “Baba O’Riley” and “Who Are You”--are from a legendary performance at the Universal Amphitheatre in California during the band’s triumphant 1989 reunion tour (with Simon Phillips on drums and a horn section). The following year, The Who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Following “The Real Me” performed in Watford in 2002, a Royal Albert Hall benefit performance also that year witnessed a roaring “The Kids Are Alright”--both with Zak Starkey on drums. Sadly, however, they were among the final performances with Entwistle, who would pass away that June. The most recent tracks are “A Man In A Purple Dress” from a 2007 show at the Nassau Coliseum in New York and a scorching “Eminence Front” (with bassist Pino Palladino) in Brisbane, Australia, in March 2009.

In 2010, The Who enters a new decade still rockin’.

It’s a new decade, a new CD and a new band – on January 12, 2010 Ringo Starr released Y NOT (Hip-O/Ume), supported by Ben Harper and Relentless7 for a promotional tour, and simultaneously announced his 11th All Starr line up, which he will take on the road this summer.

Despite being the biggest-selling Irish rock artists outside of U2, with more than 35 million albums sold worldwide, the Cranberries have never issued a live album. Now, on the heels of the band’s first North American tour in several years, that gap in the group’s history is filled by Bualadh Bos: The Cranberries Live (Island/UM^e), released January 5, 2010.

Bualadh Bos (pronounced “boola bahs,” Celtic for “clap your hands”) brings together 15 selections recorded at the height of the Cranberries’ success, from 1994-1998, from Los Angeles and Michigan to Toronto, Tipperary, and even Oslo, Norway at the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

The Limerick band--singer Dolores O’Riordan, brothers Noel and Mike Hogan (guitar and bass, respectively) and drummer Fergal Lawler--debuted with 1993’s Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? . The album went Top 10 and quintuple platinum and spun off the Top 10 and gold “Linger.” Bualadh Bos: The Cranberries Live finds the group performing six of that album’s dozen tracks (“Wanted,” “Linger,” “I Still Do,” “Waltzing Back,” “Not Sorry,” “Pretty”) at the Record Plant studio in Hollywood in 1994; one (“Dreams”) at Feile, Tipperary that same year; and another (“Sunday”) at Pine Knob in Clarkston, Michigan in 1996 on the Free To Decide World Tour. “Liar,” a non-album single b-side, is also heard from the Record Plant performance.

The follow-up album, 1994’s No Need To Argue, debuted at #6 and reached seven times platinum. The Bualadh Bos live recordings from “…Argue” are its #1 Modern Rock hit “Zombie,” #11 Pop hit “Ode To My Family” and “Ridiculous Thoughts,” and all from the Tipperary concert. 1996’s double platinum To The Faithful Departed also debuted at #6 before rising to #4. Its “Forever Yellow Skies” and “Free To Decide” are heard on Bualadh Bos in their concert versions from Toronto and Michigan, respectively, on the Free To Decide tour.

Prior to the release of the band’s fourth album, the Cranberries performed “Promises” at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. The studio version of the song would appear on 1999’s Bury The Hatchet, which debuted Top 15 and is gold. After one more album and a greatest hits package, in 2003 the band went on hiatus as the members pursued solo projects.

In January 2009, O’Riordan played a set at Dublin’s Trinity College with the Brothers Hogan to commemorate her being made an Honorary Patron of Trinity’s Philosophical Society. The performance was their first since 2003. Playing together again made them realize how much they had missed each other and in late 2009 the Cranberries announced their reunion for North American tour dates in November and December, followed by South and Central American and European shows the following year.

Midnight Souvenirs (Verve/UMe), Peter Wolf's seventh solo album, scheduled for release April 6, 2010, is a continuation of the singer-songwriter's distinctive and eclectic tales that brighten and interpret a world gone noir. Following in the tracks of Wolf's Sleepless, which was honored by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the '500 greatest albums of all-time,' the new collection gives hope to the love-wounded and promises “there's still time for the midnight wine,” even if “sometimes you heal, sometimes you're scarred.”
 
Featuring duets with country legend and national treasure Merle Haggard, the soulfully transcending dynamic award winner Shelby Lynne, and the haunting and majestic voice of Neko Case, Midnight Souvenirs integrates and embraces rock, R & B, blues, folk and country in a way that has distinguished Wolf's storied career. Measurable are his decades as the leader and frenzied focal figure of the J. Geils Band, with whom he showcased his talents on such hits as “Centerfold,” “Freeze Frame,” “Love Stinks” and “Musta Got Lost.”

Wolf's musical roots precede rock and roll, and are personally entwined with friendships and performers such as the late Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, Aretha Franklin and Van Morrison.  His talents have continued into the music of tomorrow with tours and on-stage antics with the Rolling Stones, U2, Kid Rock, and Bruce Springsteen.
 
Midnight Souvenirs was packed fair and square in the studio by Wolf and Kenny White, who also co-produced Sleepless and 1998's Fools Parade, celebrated as one of the "50 most influential albums of the '90s" by Rolling Stone Magazine.  Much like the material on those two discs, the majority of the new songs were co-written with Oscar winner Will Jennings, whose pen yielded Eric Clapton's “Tears From Heaven,” Steve Winwood's “Higher Love,” and Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warens duet “Up Where We Belong.”  Also contributing to the album were songwriters Angelo Petraglia and Taylor Rhodes, whose songs have been recorded by Kings of Leon and Aerosmith.

The 14 songs on the album range from the country blues of “Tragedy”—with Shelby Lynne—and the hard-rockin' “The Night Comes Down” (dedicated to the late Willy DeVille) to the bittersweet texture of “It's Too Late For Me” with Merle Haggard, and the punchline impact of vintage Philly roots R & B on “Overnight Lows.” Wolf and Neko Case deliver an eternal bouquet on “The Green Fields of Summer.”

The timelessness of Midnight Souvenirs spans decades and musical genres and travels into the after hours of silhouetted smoky clubs, as well as to the deep Delta of America’s South with its sounds of shake, rattle and roll.  

"I never obsess about the commercial aspect of my music, just like with my artwork," says Wolf, also an accomplished painter whose art world connections have included Norman Rockwell, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol and Director David Lynch.  
 
"What matters is if the painting is interesting to keep or show to somebody. It's the same with the songs; you hope people will make an emotional connection.  I absorb the influences and reshape them," he says. "The act of creation is what gives meaning to my life and keeps me going—in music and in art."  

That passion was evident, as Wolf pursued the project in studios from Boston to New York to Los Angeles.  Night after night of midnight wine and of setting the scenes for the melodies of lost love, backroom laments and new expectations.

For many, the World’s Greatest Rock Band, The Who, will be seen by one of the largest television audiences in history when the group headlines the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show on CBS Sports at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, February 7.

The Bridgestone Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most anticipated musical events of the year. More than 151 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s show. The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.

Many of the classic songs the band will perform are just a few of those included on Greatest Hits (Geffen/UM^e), released December 22, 2009. The largest single-disc “best of” collection from The Who in more than ten years, it is the first to span the group’s entire recording career to date, from 1964 to 2006. The 19-selection Greatest Hits brings together some of rock’s most important, influential and incandescent touchstones, along with an essay by renowned music critic Dave Marsh.

The Who stands alone in rock music. The most explosive live act ever to appear on stage, propelled by the most staggeringly brilliant rhythm section in all popular music, layered with deafening power chords and thunderous vocal fury, The Who transcended its original billing as "Maximum R&B" to become the most musically inventive and structurally innovative band of all time. Together, the four divergent personalities of The Who produced a hurricane. Each of them was a pioneer. Wildman drummer Keith Moon beat his kit with a chaotic elegance; stoic bassist John Entwistle held down the center with the melodic virtuosity of a solo guitarist; raging intellectual Pete Townshend punctuated the epic universality of his songs with the windmill slamming of his fingers across his guitar strings; and Roger Daltrey roared above it all with an impossibly virile macho swagger. They exploded conventional rhythm and blues structures, challenged pop music conventions, and redefined what was possible on stage, in the recording studio, and on vinyl. Never before or since has spiritual and intellectual brilliance sounded so gloriously furious.

Alone among the great bands, The Who has found itself at the center of every major rock event-- Monterey, Woodstock, the Isle of Wight, the Concert for Kampuchea, Live Aid, the Concert for NYC. In any era, The Who is a touchstone for rock and roll greatness. They have sold over 100 million albums and won every award including Grammys/Brit Awards/Lifetime Achievement. They have been inducted into both the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and UK Music Hall of Fame. Their charitable work is legendary with millions of dollars raised over the years for a variety of causes. This work was recognized by the award of a CBE to Roger Daltrey in 2005.

In spite of the loss of Moon and Entwistle, The Who remains the standard-bearer for great live rock and roll and are still one of the most in demand live acts in the business Their music still forms the backdrop to 21^st century life and is all over television in such shows as CSI as well as in many movies. The 21st century has sparked a resurgence in the creative collaboration between Townshend and Daltrey: In September 2006, the band released their first studio album Endless Wire since 1982’s It’s Hard, which preceded a 100 show world tour and the release of a Grammy-nominated career-spanning documentary DVD Amazing Journey.

2008 saw them return to the US for MTV‘s Rock Honors, and a further string of US dates; that year, they also completed their first ever arena tour of Japan. This was followed by the receipt of the prestigious Kennedy Center Award at The White House and the year was topped off by some incendiary shows at London’s O2. In 2009, they completed a Tour of Australia and New Zealand. Townshend and Daltrey continue to look forward with energy and optimism and time will tell what the future has in store for this most remarkable of rock acts.

Elvis Costello was 23 years old when he performed a sold-out concert at the auditorium of Hollywood High School. It was June 4, 1978 and he had been introduced to America with a controversial appearance on “Saturday Night Live” and two albums Rolling Stone would eventually rank among the 200 greatest of all time. Twenty-five years later, in 2003, Costello would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the following year would be ranked by Rolling Stone among its 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Now that historic 20-song concert will be issued for the first time in its entirety, including 11 previously unreleased recordings, on Live At Hollywood High (Hip-O/UMe), released January 12, 2010. This second installment in The Costello Show live performance series of complete concerts follows Live At The El Mocambo, released September 2009.

Just three months prior to the Hollywood High concert, This Year’s Model had become his second album but first as Elvis Costello And The Attractions, with singer-songwriter-guitarist Costello joined by keyboardist Steve Nieve, bassist Bruce Thomas and drummer Pete Thomas. Producing the concert would be Nick Lowe, who would helm Costello’s first five albums.

From Costello’s 1977 debut album My Aim Is True, the show included “Alison,” “(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes,” “Mystery Dance,” “Waiting For The End Of The World,” “Miracle Man” and “Watching The Detectives.” From This Year’s Model, the band cranked out “Pump It Up,” “The Beat,” “Lip Service,” “(I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea” (only on the U.K. album), “Radio Radio” (only on the U.S. edition), “Lipstick Vogue,” “No Action,” “This Year’s Girl,” “Living In Paradise” and “You Belong To Me” plus the bonus single “Stranger In The House.”

The band also previewed “Accidents Will Happen,” “Party Girl” and “Goon Squad” from Armed Forces, which they would begin to record three months later. That album released in early 1979 would become Costello’s highest charter (#10) and his third straight to earn gold or platinum. Included as a promotional giveaway with initial copies was a 7” single with the Hollywood High performances of “Accidents Will Happen,” “Alison” and “Watching The Detectives.” A 2002 reissue of Armed Forces would add a disc with those tracks and six others from Hollywood High.

Unreleased, however, would be the concert’s “Lip Service,” “The Beat,” “Living In Paradise,” “(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes,” “(I Don’t Wanna Go To) Chelsea,” “This Year’s Girl,” “No Action,” “Radio, Radio,” “Pump It Up,” “Waiting For The End Of The World” and “Miracle Man”--all of which make their debuts on Live At Hollywood High.

Upcoming releases of The Costello Show will include, among others, concerts performed at the Royal Albert Hall and Royalty Theater in London.

The baby boomer generation has grown up with Donny Osmond, one of the most popular stars in pop music history. Now, a new generation has discovered him after his recent win on this season’s hit TV series Dancing With The Stars and a recent reunion with sister Marie resulted in a wildly successful Las Vegas show that continues its run. Spanning four decades, Donny Osmond – The Definitive Collection contains all six of his solo Pop Top 10 hits and four other Top 15s; the two biggest hits from the Osmonds; his two highest charting duets with his sister Marie, and their fan favorite “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock & Roll”; his 2002 solo remake of the Osmonds’ hit “Crazy Horses”; “Any Dream Will Do” from the musical Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; and the U.K. 12-inch mix of “Soldier Of Love,” making U.S. CD debut on this collection. One of nine children, Donny’s family became well-known as regular performers on Andy Williams’ hit musical variety television series. Donny made his TV debut on December 10, 1963, one day after his sixth birthday. Less than 10 years later he was a teen idol.

Between 1971 and 1973, he hit gold and Top 10 with “Go Away Little Girl” (#1), “Hey Girl,” and remakes of Paul Anka’s “Puppy Love,” Roy Orbison’s “Sweet & Innocent” and the Johnny Mathis ballad “The Twelfth Of Never.” With his brothers, he mined gold with “One Bad Apple” (#1) and “Yo-Yo.” Other Top 15 hits on Donny Osmond – The Definitive Collection are “Too Young,” “Why” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight.” With Marie in 1974, he scored the Top 10s “Morning Side Of The Mountain” and “I’m Leaving It All Up To You” (a gold single as well) before starring with her in a variety series.

Donny returned to the charts in 1989 when “Soldier Of Love” hit #2; “Sacred Emotion” also then went Top 15. Subsequently, he starred in nearly 2,000 performances of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. A talk show with Marie, a best-selling autobiography, starring as the singing Shang in Disney’s animated film Mulan, and more, followed. Donny Osmond – The Definitive Collection concludes with 2004’s “Breeze On By,” a U.S. Adult Contemporary Top 40 and U.K. Pop Top 10.

For pop-punk, New Found Glory’s self-titled album from 2000 helped define the genre, inspire the formation of bands everywhere, and pave the way for the success of groups such as Fall Out Boy. Now, a decade later, the CD+DVD New Found Glory (10^th Anniversary Edition) (Geffen/UM^e), released January 26, 2010, brings together that original album, seven previously unreleased or rare bonus tracks, and the 2002 DVD documentary The Story So Far, which featured all of the band’s music videos to that date plus concert footage, interviews, and more. The package also includes revealing new liner notes from each band member and the album’s producer Neal Avron (Fall Out Boy, Everclear, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard).

One of the first bands to fuse the sensibility of emo, vocal production of pop and heavy riffs of hardcore, and bring it to the mainstream, New Found Glory formed in Coral Springs, Florida in 1997. After an indie EP and debut album, singer Jordan Pundik, lead guitarist Chad Gilbert, guitarist Steve Klein, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Cyrus Bolooki made their major label debut with the self-titled album in 2000. With its Top 20 Modern Rock hit “Hit Or Miss,” the album was boosted by a tour with blink-182, sold-out headlining tours, and a spot on the Warped Tour, and eventually was certified gold.

New Found Glory (10^th Anniversary Edition) adds three previously unreleased demos (the album’s “Better Off Dead” and “All About Her” and the never-issued “The Radio Song”), as well as the unreleased Jerry Finn mix of “Hit Or Miss,” which marked the band’s first time in a major studio with a name producer. The other extras are “So Many Ways” (a bonus on the album’s Japanese version), “The Minute I Met You” (from the 2002 Clockstoppers soundtrack), and “Ex-Miss” (recorded for a KROQ/Los Angeles Christmas CD and heard on the Japanese version of 2002’s follow-up album, Sticks And Stones, which charted #4 Pop and also went gold).

The DVD portion of New Found Glory (10^th Anniversary Edition) offers the aptly-titled documentary The Story So Far, with its band history, live performances, and videos for the album’s “Dressed To Kill” and “Hit Or Miss” (two versions), and for the Sticks And Stones hits “Head On Collision” and “My Friends Over You.”

In 2004, Catalyst would become the band’s highest charter, at #3 Pop, and New Found Glory’s third gold album. After 2006’s Top 20 Coming Home, the band has continued with Epitaph Records, most recently with 2009’s Top 15 charting Not Without A Fight, and continued to gain new fans.

“When I look back on this record,” writes guitarist Gilbert in the liner notes, “I still wouldn’t change a thing. Not even the really corny boy band looking pictures of us on the inside.”

In conjunction with the release of the 10^th Anniversary Edition, the band will be embarking on a 42 date tour playing the album in its entirety starting January 29^th in San Diego. Supporting New Found Glory on this tour will be Saves the Day, Hellogoodbye, and Fireworks. LL Cool J – the first rap teen idol, first rapper with four consecutive albums, first to earn four gold singles, first to hit No. 1 R&B, first to headline “MTV Unplugged;” a multi-talented performer, actor (currently starring in the new TV series “NCIS: Los Angeles”) and entrepreneur – opened the doors for rap’s mass popularity. For many, the World’s Greatest Rock Band, The Who, will be seen by one of the largest television audiences in history when the group headlines the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show on CBS Sports at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida on Sunday, February 7.

The Bridgestone Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most anticipated musical events of the year. More than 151 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year’s show. The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.

Many of the classic songs the band will perform are just a few of those included on Greatest Hits (Geffen/UM^e), released December 22, 2009. The largest single-disc “best of” collection from The Who in more than ten years, it is the first to span the group’s entire recording career to date, from 1964 to 2006. The 19-selection Greatest Hits brings together some of rock’s most important, influential and incandescent touchstones, along with an essay by renowned music critic Dave Marsh.

The Who stands alone in rock music. 2008 saw them return to the US for MTV‘s Rock Honors, and a further string of US dates; that year, they also completed their first ever arena tour of Japan. For the first time ever, Starr produces himself on his most personal album yet. Ringo is joined on Y Not by old and new friends including Paul McCartney, with whom Starr sings on Y Not’s stunning first single, “Walk With You,” a moving new song about the power of friendship. Throughout recorded history, great artists across the universe have dared to ask “Why?” On January 12, 2010, one brave man named Ringo finally boldly declares the ultimate answer -- Y Not.

For the first time in one of popular music’s most enduring and illustrious careers, Ringo Starr has decided to take charge and produce himself. The result is perhaps the most personal and impressive album of this rock legend’s entire solo career. How on earth did Starr finally locate the absolutely perfect producer to work with him? “Well, I looked in the mirror,” Ringo says with a smile. “And I was looking real groovy that day.”

Starr’s decision to take a stronger role in the recording of his latest and greatest solo album was a significant and fortuitous one. “I didn’t do it at the start,” Starr says. “I was the least involved in the production of the Beatle records. And then with my solo records, I worked with some other great producers like Richard Perry, Arif Mardin, and Don Was. So it just seemed like that’s the way that it goes. Then suddenly, it’s another point in your life, and you say, `I’m going do this now.’ So I’ll be producing anything I make from now on. That’s the good news. It’s a confidence thing, I suppose. And Y Not is really another way of me saying, ‘Yes, I can.’”

The joyous result of Starr looking in the mirror is Y Not, a groovy and deeply felt song cycle that finds Ringo leading a smaller core group of old and new friends including longtime pal and recent brother-in-law Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart and longtime Roundheads member Steve Dudas on guitar, Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on keyboards, Don Was and Mike Bradford on bass. The album also features Starr’s engineer and co-producer Bruce Sugar on keyboards, as well as some special guests like Edgar Winter on horns and alto sax, and Joss Stone, Ben Harper and Richard Marx on vocals, Ann Marie Calhoun on violin and Tina Sugandh -- aka Tina The Tabla Girl – on tabla and chanting. Starr’s songwriting collaborators on Y Not also include familiar and new names like Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart. Joss Stone, Glen Ballard, Richard Marx, Van Dyke Parks, Gary Nicholson plus Gary Wright and his former Roundhead band member, Gary Burr.

Yet no collaborator featured on Y Not is likely to receive as much attention as Starr’s former bandmate and longstanding mate Paul McCartney, who adds a characteristically brilliant bass part to the inspiring “Peace Dream” -- Starr’s latest heartfelt plea for peace and love -- and even more notably provides his unmistakably fabulous vocals to “Walk With You,” an exquisite new composition by Starr and Van Dyke Parks.

“Walk With You” is a moving, even spiritual meditation about the lasting power of friendship, and McCartney’s inspired participation on the track was a testament to McCartney’s generosity of spirit and musical talent. “Paul was doing the Grammy’s, so he came over to the house and was playing bass on `Peace Dream.’” So I played him this other track and Paul said, `Give me the headphones. Give me a pair of cans.’ And he went to the mike and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better. He makes it bigger and he makes it fuller. It makes the song like a conversation between us, and that was Paul’s idea to do his part one beat behind me. That’s why he’s a gen-i-us and an incredible bass player.”

Indeed, there’s a whole lot of genius on display throughout Y Not. Highpoints here include “Fill In The Blanks,” the album’s rocking opening track written, played and sung only by Starr and Walsh. Then there’s “The Other Side Of Liverpool,” a revealing autobiographical song that explores Starr’s earliest and darkest days. “People believe I was born, was a Beatle and lived in a big house,” Starr explains. “And where I come from was a very dark, damp, violent neighborhood. I wanted to write another little snapshot of my life, and I’m going to do this every album. It’s better for me than doing it in a book. In two lines I can say what would take five pages. Like the song says, “’The other side of Liverpool is cold and damp/Only way out of there/drums, guitar and amp.’”

Starr was already particularly thrilled with one early review for the first album he produced that came from someone he helped produce too. “I just played it for my son Zak,” Starr explains. “And Zak was so great. He said, “’Dad, it’s great. This rocks! You should have been doing this forever.’ It’s nice coming from your boy, especially since he’s a really good drummer.”

2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 med onion finely chopped

2 (15 oz cans) cannellini beans

6 cups of water

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

8 oz tuberini or salad macaroni pasta

1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Heat the oil in a large pot and saute the onions

Add 2 cans cannellini beans and the 6 cups of water.

Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle on the cinnamon.

Cover and bring to a boil for about 10 minutes then reduce heat

to a simmer and cook slowly for 2 hours.

Bring to a slow boil again and add the pasta and cook until pasta is

al dente about 10 minutes.

Add freshly ground pepper and the parmesan cheese and serve.

It's even better the 2nd day.

I always double the recipe and use chicken broth and water but  

otherwise it's the same.

Stunning Vocals By A Young Michael Jackson Heard For The First Time On Single-CD Set Celebrating J5 40th Anniversary

There had never been an act like the Jackson 5 before and there will never be another one like it again. Now, on the 40th anniversary of the group's landmark Motown debut - their smash hit "I Want You Back" b/w "Who's Lovin' You" was issued Oct. 7, 1969 - the Jackson 5 is heard like never before.

I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters (Motown/UMe), issued Nov. 10, 2009, brings to the public for the first time 12 unreleased recordings that include unique alternate versions of well-known hits as well as near classics and should-have-been-hits by one of the most popular groups of all time.

Preceding the release is the eSingle, "That's How Love Is," releasing exclusively on iTunes on October 6, the eve of the 40th anniversary. It's produced by Deke Richards, founding member of The Corporation, and mixed exclusively for this release by original Motown engineer Russ Terrana. I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters also features Stevie Wonder's "Buttercup," a highly anticipated collaboration announced in 1974 but never released. There are two different studio performances of hits - one, a medley of "I Want You Back/ABC/The Love You Save," the other an alternate version of "Never Can Say Goodbye" - recorded for TV appearances with Michael's lead laid down for "safety" (he would sing live on the shows) but never heard until now. Other hit alternates: an extended alternate version of the No. 1 hit "Dancing Machine" and the original vocal version of "ABC."

We get to hear, too, amazing unreleased tracks written and produced by the J5's regular producers: The Corporation led by Deke Richards ("I Want You Back," "ABC," et al), with two "new" songs, the afore-mentioned, cute and lively "That's How Love Is" and "Love Comes In Different Flavors"; and Hal Davis ("I'll Be There" and many more), represented by the beautiful "Lucky Day," with one of MJ's loveliest vocals.

The J5 recorded prolifically throughout their Motown tenure, especially their first year under the tutelage of Bobby Taylor, produced two-thirds of their debut album. On this collection we'll hear two soulful, nearly forgotten tracks: "Man's Temptation," a ballad written by Curtis Mayfield - originally performed by Gene Chandler and later covered by Isaac Hayes - featuring Jackie, Jermaine and Michael, whose passionate vocals make the track this new album's "Who's Loving You"; and the funky "Listen I'll Tell You How," a Taylor original.

That's not all. Willie Hutch, co-writer of "I'll Be There," delivered "Love Call," a fast-paced smash that was somehow overlooked back in '71. Johnny Bristol, best known for his work with Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, Jr. Walker and the Supremes, co-wrote and produced "I'll Try You'll Try (Maybe We'll All Get By)," a super funky, socially conscious jam.

I Want You Back!, at 12 tracks, mirrors an original Motown album lineup. On this brand new album not only is the music previously unheard, most of the photos in the package are previously unseen. Another bonus for longtime J5 fans: In addition to "That's How Love Is," Russ Terrana mixed two more tracks for this collection.

Despite being the biggest-selling Irish rock artists outside of U2, with more than 35 million albums sold worldwide, the Cranberries have never issued a live album. The Limerick band--singer Dolores O’Riordan, brothers Noel and Mike Hogan (guitar and bass, respectively) and drummer Fergal Lawler--debuted with 1993’s Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? . The album went Top 10 and quintuple platinum and spun off the Top 10 and gold “Linger.” Bualadh Bos: The Cranberries Live finds the group performing six of that album’s dozen tracks (“Wanted,” “Linger,” “I Still Do,” “Waltzing Back,” “Not Sorry,” “Pretty”) at the Record Plant studio in Hollywood in 1994; one (“Dreams”) at Feile, Tipperary that same year; and another (“Sunday”) at Pine Knob in Clarkston, Michigan in 1996 on the Free To Decide World Tour. “Liar,” a non-album single b-side, is also heard from the Record Plant performance.

The follow-up album, 1994’s No Need To Argue, debuted at #6 and reached seven times platinum. The Bualadh Bos live recordings from “…Argue” are its #1 Modern Rock hit “Zombie,” #11 Pop hit “Ode To My Family” and “Ridiculous Thoughts,” and all from the Tipperary concert. 1996’s double platinum To The Faithful Departed also debuted at #6 before rising to #4. Its “Forever Yellow Skies” and “Free To Decide” are heard on Bualadh Bos in their concert versions from Toronto and Michigan, respectively, on the Free To Decide tour.

Prior to the release of the band’s fourth album, the Cranberries performed “Promises” at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. The studio version of the song would appear on 1999’s Bury The Hatchet, which debuted Top 15 and is gold. After one more album and a greatest hits package, in 2003 the band went on hiatus as the members pursued solo projects.

In January 2009, O’Riordan played a set at Dublin’s Trinity College with the Brothers Hogan to commemorate her being made an Honorary Patron of Trinity’s Philosophical Society. The performance was their first since 2003. Playing together again made them realize how much they had missed each other and in late 2009 the Cranberries announced their reunion for North American tour dates in November and December, followed by South and Central American and European shows the following year.

Nirvana's Legendary Never-Before-Released 1992 Reading Concert Set to Debut in November

Ranked #1 in Kerrang Magazine's "100 Gigs That Shook The World" and voted as "Nirvana's #1 Greatest Moment" by fans in an NME poll, Nirvana's historic August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at the UK's Reading Festival is one of the most bootlegged concerts in the annals of rock'n'roll. Now, fans will have an opportunity to own a pristine copy of that entire performance -- color-corrected video from the original film with audio sourced from the original multi-track masters. Nirvana Live At Reading will be issued in a limited edition CD+DVD Deluxe Edition as well as DVD-only, CD-only configurations on November 3, 2009, followed by a 2 LP version on November 17, 2009.

While the show's centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as of yet unrecorded songs which wouldn't be released until 2 years later on In Utero: "All Apologies," "Dumb," and in its first ever public performance, "tourette's." The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band's 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for "Blew," "About A Girl," "School," "Negative Creep" and first single "Love Buzz," and even further back to the mid-'80s for "Spank Thru." Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: "Aneurysm," "Been A Son" and "Sliver." Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound -- "The Money Will Roll Right In" by Fang and "D-7" by The Wipers.

Only 2 of the 25 performances on the DVD have ever been released before.

2009 has been quite a year for Morrissey. He’s toured relentlessly, performing to sold-out audiences around the world. His 9th studio album, Years Of Refusal, saw Morrissey tie his highest US chart debut on the Billboard 200, and he’s overseen upgraded and remastered versions of his ‘90s works Southpaw Grammar and Maladjusted. Crowning what is undoubtedly his most productive year since his solo career began in 1988, SWORDS compiles 18 select songs released as b-sides of his 13 hit singles from his last four albums.

As an artist who has always ensured his b-sides are of as outstanding quality as his singles and album tracks, SWORDS features some of Morrissey’s finest material. 12 songs are collaborations with guitarist Alain Whyte, the rest co-written with guitarists Boz Boorer and Jesse Tobias, and former keyboardist Michael Farrell. In keeping with the three remarkable studio albums covered in his period – 2004’s You Are The Quarry, 2006’s Ringleader Of The Tormentors and Years Of Refusal - the music is powerful and adventurous. The richness and expression of Morrissey’s voice has never been greater. With unmatchable style, wit and insight, truths beneath the surface are laid bare. There are moments of personal reflection; “Munich Air Disaster 1958,” for example, is a heartrending lament for the Manchester United players who died in the infamous plane crash, and for those who were left behind. The live cover version of David Bowie’s 1973 song “Drive-In Saturday” reveals a little more of Morrissey’s own teenage self, with its lyrics of amorous confusion modified to rhapsodize over The New York Dolls rather than the Rolling Stones. Chrissie Hynde makes a rare appearance, singing backing vocals on “Shame is the Name.”

The album was compiled by Morrissey who is surely in the rudest of creative health. They’re subtly assembled and sequenced –the feeling of approaching extinction in the beautiful “The Never-Played Symphonies” followed by a promise of a reunion in the afterlife on “Sweetie-Pie.” As Morrissey said of the Tour Of Refusal in March, “all of our answers will be in our songs.”

Initial quantities of SWORDS will come with a bonus disc featuring eight superb live performances recorded in Warsaw in July this year. This will include songs from Morrissey’s last two albums and 1994’s Vauxhall And I, plus The Smiths’ “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby,” first heard on the group’s 1986 b-side collection The World Won’t Listen. In October and November Morrissey and his band will also tour the UK and Europe, with new American dates scheduled for later in the year.

SWORDS will be released in the UK on October 26th and November 3rd in the US.
